Your News Millwall 35 - Old Brentwoods 0

MILLWALL returned to winning ways with a 35-0 victory over Old Brentwoods to reignite the club's title hopes in this season's Essex Division 1.

The victory makes it three wins out of two for the Isle of Dogs outfit who also picked up a bonus point in a bumper afternoon on Millwall Park.

But the match was sadly cut short just minutes into the second half after the visitors were unable to continue when one of their players suffered a broken leg.

Millwall manager Carl Burnett put the win down to having his as near as possible first choice XV at his disposal.

'A few players came back who were not available last week,' said Burnett.

'We had a full strength side.

'This makes it two wins out of three games.

'We just need to keep the momentum going now.'

Front row Michael Finnegan linked with number eight Sean Russell who touched down in one of five tries for Millwall.

Adam Shields got a hat trick of tries in an outstanding display at number 11 while Brent McMillan also ran in a try.

Rock solid fly-half Dom Sutherland converted all five scores.

Millwall's seconds, thirds and fourths all recorded defeats in their games.

The second team hosted South Woodham Ferrers II at Victoria Park, Hackney, but narrowly missed out on a victory, losing 19-21.

Millwall's thirds and fourths both travelled to Old Brentwoods in reverse fixtures to that of the first XV, but both lost out, sustaining defeats of 61-14 and 72-3 respectively.
