Yatton Captain praises fair play spirit

With two debutantes in Yattons Front Five and playing up the slope, the visitors struggled to contain the bigger and faster Nailsea pack. Initially weak tackling also didnt help and soon the home side were on a confident 14 points with no reply.

Slowly Yatton hauled themselves back into the game with two penalty conversions but Nailsea managed to clock up two more converted tries before the break at 28-6.

The second half had a better edge on it for Yatton, with the forwards being driven on by Man of the Match and creaking Veteran Jonathan Crew. Crews habit of creating havoc amongst the opposition, with resulting opportunities, unfortunately went unrewarded as lack of knowledge, loose passes and missed kicks to touch sapped the visitors energy.

Consequently Nailsea were able to run in two late converted tries and rightly congratulate themselves on a highly professional win.

Yattons Captain said, when interviewed after the match, Although the score line was convincing enough and a fair reflection, it was a very entertaining and enjoyable workout seemingly for both sides and I would especially like to give due credit and mention of Nailsea Backwells spirit of the true game of rugby and thoughtful attitude regarding our new boys.

Yattons 3rd XV play in the Somerset Three North league and would be pleased to hear more spectators next Saturday when they face up to Cheddar at North End Yatton.
