Your News Stourbridge 20 - Blaydon 18

Blaydon had every opportunity to notch a second successive away win but let themselves down with an error strewn second half performance that culminated in them conceding an injury time penalty whilst playing with just 13 men.

In the first half they had much the better of it and took an early lead when prop forward Robbie Kalbraier was driven over by the rest of the pack.

Luke Cozens, the Stourbridge fly-half, landed a penalty but Blaydon struck again when skipper Matt Hall broke from a line-out to neatly side-step 2 defenders and put Andrew Baggett clear to score.

Dan Kyle's conversion made it 3-12 but right on the interval some poor defence let in Tom Jarvis between the posts, Cozens converting, and the visitors advantage was down to 2 points at the break.

Kyle was on target with a penalty soon after the restart but mistakes were creeping into Blaydon's game and the home side edged in front for the first time when winger Dave Freeman scooted in from half-way, Cozens again adding the points.

In a rare Blaydon attack another long distance Kyle penalty regained them a 17-18 advantage and for a while it looked as if the win was still on.

Unfortunately both Baggett and Matt Clark were shown the yellow card and with time running out a Cameron Brown penalty gave Stourbridge a first win of the season which they just about deserved.
