Children in Tower Hamlets found an outlet during the summer holidays on Friday as Millwall Rugby Club's annual "Rugby Fridays" series kicked off on Millwall Park.

Over 20 young people turned up for the first session, led by new Millwall U12s Chris Attwood, with over 50% of the attendees trying rugby for the first time.

Attwood said he was delighted to be part of the Millwall Rugby summer programme:

"This is a great experience, getting involved during the summer and being able to meet new players, who will hopefully play for our U12s or other teams when the season kicks off in September".

Rugby Fridays feature as the main element of the Isle of Dogs club's summer programme, which is sponsored by Canary Wharf Plc.

Touch Rugby training is also being run on Wednesday evenings on Millwall Park from 6pm-715pm.

All sessions are free and players between the ages of 7-17 are welcome to come along at take part.

The club are now looking for new recruits to help strengthen their playing ranks in all age groups.

The club will field teams in U10s, U12s, U15s and Colts (U19s), as they look to introduce more youngsters to the sport.
