Your News Deepings U10 go unbeaten at Stamford festival

Deepings Under 10s enjoyed an unbeaten weekend at the Stamford Minis Rugby Festival, which stands them in good stead for the forthcoming NLD.

In match one, against Wisbech, Deepings applied strong first half pressure and were unlucky to go behind to a try right at the end of the half. Much of the second half was played at the Wisbech end of the field and Deepings got their reward with a try by Josh Lynch.

Despite sustained pressure and strong runs from George Robinson, David Thomas and Riley Payne, Wisbech held on for a 1-1 draw.

Deepings made a strong start in the second game against Stuarts & Lloyds and got an early try courtesy of David Thomas. Deepings defence worked well to stifle the strong-running S&L forwards and ensure that they held the advantage at half time. After the break, S&L came back into the game strongly, but some superb tackling, notably from Josh Lynch, Matthew Lindlay and David Thomas held them at bay. Eventually, however, S&L broke through to level the game and although Deepings countered strongly the game ended 1-1.

The final game against Oakham saw Deepings run in six unanswered tries the biggest winning margin in the pool. A superb team performance backed up with tries from Josh Lynch (3), David Thomas, George Robinson and Adam Organ meant that Oakham were never in the game. Despite earning a bonus point from the result, Deepings failed to progress as the highest scoring runners-up.
