Your News RUGFEST RETURNS FOR 2010 all Clubs welcome

Following the success of last years inaugural Rugfest - that saw nearly 2,000 people attending on one of the hottest days of the summer - the gauntlet was thrown down to make this year’s event bigger and better still. So this years Rugfest will be a two-day event to be held at the Hithercroft Sports Park on the 2nd & 3rd July 2010.

The festival will still have the theme of family fun for everyone but will be divided into two distinct flavours.

Friday night will focus around a mellower session of acoustic music, a hog roast and a selection of great ales and drinks. A slightly mellower night will be all the more necessary when you look at the excitement of Festival Saturday. Having camped (or if you really feel like it GLAMPED) overnight you can join those coming for just the Saturday to enjoy even more great music that will rock throughout the day.

On Saturday the kids will have plenty to entertain them with circus and drumming skills, dance, drum and circus workshops, a kids disco and the wonderful Jan and her van to name just a few. There will be stalls for all, as well as great food and if you add the eclectic range of Ales and hand made cocktails, you can see the weekend’s potential.

On the big stage the music will take you through into Saturday evening with some of the best local bands and if that sounds like thirsty work we are sure you can find something from the collection of over 30 real ales ciders and lagers that will stop you dehydrating as the festival dance buzz kicks in.

Wallingford has always had a proud tradition of supporting good live music and events such as the Bunkfest and the Blues and Beer Festival are noticeable dates on the Wallingford social calendar. Rugfest is an addition to this tradition and is quickly establishing itself as an outstanding musical event.

Bands playing so far - Jackie Leven / Kilto Take/ Quadrophobe/ Oldplay / Unusual Suspects/ Very Nice Harry and Violet Behaviour – further acts to be confirmed
