Teignmouth reserves emulated what the first 15 did last year by winning their league and promotion.

After going close last season, narrowly losing out to Torquay 3rds,they had to gain a win at Ivybridge on saturday, otherwise Tavistock would take top spot if they beat basement side Totnes. The visitors took an early foot hold on the game when no 8 James Drew scored a try and converted and then kicked a penalty to make it 10 nil after 10 minutes, his unavailability has been frustrating this season as he was ever present in the first team promotion side last year.

The home side started to fight back and only some resilient defending, and commited tackling, especially from young stand off Jake Berry kept the score to 10 each after 35 minutes, and just before the break Sean Howard crashed over to score with Drew adding the extras.Young Lewis Beere broke through and ran 60 metres but just failed to score, but was fortunate to be awarded a penalty which Drew kicked.Beere got his reward on 70 minutes when he scored after a good backs play,Drew scored the conversion to take his tally to 17 points and the Teigns saw out the game under Captain Jason Wards leadership and Manager Gerard Starlings coaching from the sidelines. Flanker Chris Day came off the park with a broken nose, but still joined in the celebrations after the game.
