Your News U20 'Gades vs Lassiter!

The U20's composed of mainly fresh recruits from Mill Creek High School took on the former state champions, Lassiter, having mainly alumni, most from KSU.

The game was a rough start for the gades, players were brand new to the team and play was sloppy in the first half but picked back up soon enough. After giving up two tries to Lassiter, Scrum Half Tyler 'forest' Lester put the Gades back on the board by scoring the first try after hitting the right flank and scoring the try himself.

The boys from mill creek, who were the majority of this team, picked up their playing and started to win the ball in the forward pack with big pushes in the scrums and winning the ball in the lineouts. Another try would be scored by a forward crash before 2nd half.

The second half of the game was hands down dominated by the U20s. Ball retention increased, rucking improved and movement of the ball improved dramatically.

Lassiter defenses picked up and became more alert as the U20s took the lead thanks to the conversions made by kicker Michael Nel. Two more tries would be scored by lassiter AND the U20s. U20s original scrum half Mike Winham ran the ball a good 20 meters and took the ball into contact. Inside center Mike Valladares would be in support and receive the pop pass from Winham allowing for another try. This was practiced for two days at practice and it sure as hell paid off.

Last try against Lassiter was made again by Inside center Mike V. The line was read and an interception was made. Needless to say Lassiter was not prepared for it, leading to another try. Michael Nel would make the kick Putting the U20s at 31 with lassiter 21.

Lassiter scored 2 more tries before the ref called full time and missed both their kicks leaving the score 31-31
