Your News Esher 31 - Blaydon 12

Esher clinched the league championship with this latest win in a highly successful season but were taken all the way by a spirited Blaydon side.

Two tries in a 3 minute spell after the break effectively sealed the result for them but it was Blaydon who went on to dominate, and the Crow Trees men were pressing for a bonus point when a breakaway try made it a somewhat unrealistic score-line for Esher.

A catch and drive by Esher lock Rob Anderson opened the scoring on 18 minutes and he was soon followed over the Blaydon line by flanker James Tubasei after an excellent break from winger Tom Loizides.

The dust had scarcely settled when scrum-half Garrick Crowley also touched down and 10-5 had suddenly become 24-5.

Another substantial home win was on the cards but Blaydon had other ideas. Mark Wilson stormed in from 12 metres, Andrew Baggett converting, and it was one-way traffic in the Esher half.

With Blaydon winger Kevin McShane leading the way with a number of probing runs anything seemed possible until Esher replacement Joe Marler spoiled the come-back when he intercepted a looping pass and galloped clear, Chisholm converting
