Your News Teignmouth U14's - Winners at Exeter Chiefs Exeter Chiefs 17 - Teignmouth 28

Teignmouth Under 14s were given the opportunity to play Exeter at Sandy Park and totally enjoyed the occasion coming out worthy winners after watching Exeter Chiefs turn over Coventry 45 12.

The Under 14s entertained a crowd of 100 plus and in wet conditions both teams produced some courageous rugby played at a furious pace. However it was Teignmouth centre, Shaun Bayliss, who broke the deadlock scoring under the posts after some slick handling. Jack Saunders added the conversion. Exeters heavier forwards began to get themselves together pushing Teignmouth back and eventually forcing their way over the line for an unconverted try. With minutes to go before the break Saunders sliced through Exeters defences and raced to score in the corner. From the touchline he also put over the conversion for a half time score 5 -14.

In the second half Teignmouth extended their lead to 5 28 with both wingers scoring. First it was Sam Simmonds who collected the ball after a clever kick by Saunders. Then Josh Davey came off his own wing to score a stunning try in the opposite corner. Saunders made it 4 out of 4 with his kicking by adding both conversions.

Exeter came back strongly scoring twice with only one being converted for a final score 17 28.

This result was ideal preparation for Teignmouth who travel to Barnstaple next week to play Tavistock in the Devon Plate Final. Kick-Off 1pm
