On a cloudy and cool day near Norwich the Crusaders large pack started strongly forcing Woodbridge to push back with interest. The visitors backs struggled to hold possession from their fast approaching opponents and chose to kick at their full back who seemed vulnerable at the start. The tactics earned them two penalties from John Yorke to put them 6 points ahead after 20 mins. Crusaders rallied though and after several forays into Warrior territory their scrum half put their full-back, Tom Sandland, over.
The second half started 7 - 6 with a good Warriors platform from a throw in on their hosts 22 but poor handling allowed Crusaders to break away which they did on a couple of occasions forcing some hard defensive tackles. An increasingly nervous-looking Woodbridge began to show signs of panic which Crusaders exploited when their No11, John Birchett, ran through to score a converted try on 11 mins and, 9 minutes later, they drove over the Warriors 5m line, recycled on the left to put their 10 Jordan Long under the posts for Mark Keysel to make his third conversion. Woodbridge tried several alternative counter attacks but some poor passing and slow ball frustrated them against an increasingly confident Crusaders.
