Your News Fakenham 10 - Wallingford Warriors 22

Despite the gusty wind, which made kicking a lottery, Woodbridge dominated early ball and within 5 mins Donovan Steward had scored (no conv). Fakenham rallied however, interfering and disrupting a Woodbridge pack who were intelligent in the scrum and improved in the line out. All game the visitors conceded penalties, particularly for offside and hands on the floor, which let a previously rattled Fakenham back into the game and gave Joe Bane-Young their first points. Woodbridge reasserted themselves and had the best of the match either side of half time with trys from Iain Johnson, Donovan Steward again and Olly Hurlock, the latter converted by Tom Yorke.

The Warriors backs put together many threatening phases but were often frustrated by Fakenham’s big forwards stealing possession or winning penalties but only rarely counter-attacking effectively as fitness began to tell. Despite their opponents frequent opportunistic advances it was Fakenham’s Chris Glossop who scored the closing converted try after they annexed Woodbridge’s 22 metre area to exploit yet more penalties.
