Your News Blaydon 36 - Cinderford 24

Blaydon made it 3 wins out of 4, with a bonus point from each game, but it was an up and down performance against bottom of the table Cinderford who both started and finished the stronger.

It took the visitors just 4 minutes to grab the lead when they wheeled a Blaydon scrum on the home line with the ball popping out to flanker Paul Nicholls who gratefully accepted the gift and dived over.

Right winger Alistair Bressington then put the finishing touch to a smart move to make it 0-10 after 15 minutes and Blaydon were in disarray but amazingly the game then swung in their favour and by 51 minutes it had become 31-10.

Scrum-half Tom Rock, who was involved in everything, set up the move that saw Paddy Dias touch down under the posts and also for a Scott Riddell run-in. Sean English secured a third, Richard Windle converted them all and it was 21-10 at the break.

The bonus try went to James Fitzpatrick but then Blaydon took their foot off the pedal and Cinderford came storming back. Skipper Paul Knight stormed over from a tap penalty, Nicholls again went in from close range and the Crow Trees men did well to steady the ship.

A Matt Dehaty try and 5 more points from Windle did the trick but it had been a remarkable effort from the visitors considering that at different times they had 3 forwards in the sin-bin.
