Your News Sevenoaks U8 Draw in the Plate Final

On a glorious day for running Rugby the U8's team continued their successful season with a thrilling draw in the plate final against Heathfield. The day started with a solid victory against the hosts Worthing which was good news for a team featuring several new faces. Fast running early on from Georgia Lane and Archie Johnstone ensured a comfortable win for Sevenoaks. Next up were Haywards Heath and despite some solid tagging by Oliver Green and Kamran Ampromam Sevenoaks lost narrowly 3-2. Sevenoaks responded to this defeat in their last 2 pool games beating both Cranbrook and Chicester convincingly. Notable highlights were superb support play by Jack Anderson and Ewan Martin and solid defensive work by William Dickinson. The final was against Heathfield who like Sevenoaks had only narrowly lost one game. Heathfield started strongly and went into the break 3-1 up, however Sevenoaks fought back strongly in the second half with their fitness and the fresh legs of Nicholas Labuschange and took the game to 4 tries all. In the last play Sevenoaks so nearly scored to take the game however the final pass just went astray. The organisers agreed that a draw was a fitting result for such a closely fought competition. Both captains received the trophy on the balcony in front of a cheering crowd.
