Your News Doncaster Knights do their bit for Sport Releif

Doncaster Knights teamed up with Ade Adepitan (Great Britain Paralympic wheelchair basketball) and the likes of Harry Gratian to run the Sport relief mile at Sheffield. The event was absolutely packed out, and the Knights players taking part decided they were going to run it seriously despite stiff competition from several Olympic Athletes.

Simon Grainger finished first in the "Celebrity Wave" Closely followed by Brad Hunt. It was a 1,2,3,4 finish for the Knights as amazingly Richard List made the third place with yards to spare over backs coach Justin Bishop. The only injury picked up on the race was one by Richard List, who somehow managed to get a paper cut from his race card stapled to his T-Shirt. Photographs of this incredible injury are available. The Knights Prop struggled on in the face of adversity though, making his victory of backs coach Justin Bishop taste all the more sweeter through the haze of pain.

After the mile we took time out to talk to Ade Adepitan , who assured us that if he wasn't on his way to play a competetive game in Sheffield he would have given given Simon Grainger a real race. We will be talking to respective agents over the summer to see if a rematch is on the cards.

Ade told us " My Coach has already been on the phone saying he doesn't want to see any footage of me racing away pre match", so it seems Grainger's victory may be a hollow one.

Back at Castle park, Doncaster Mini Junior Rugby made over over 200 for Sport Relief with every age group from Under 7 upwards doing a mile before their games in odd socks, which the children did with a smile on their faces knowing it was for a great cause.
