Your News Gosforth host youth festival

On a marvellous Sunny Mothers day nearly 700 children took part in Gosforth Rugby Football Clubs annual Youth festival of rugby.

Teams from Carlisle, Ponteland, Westoe, Blaydon, Tynedale, Percy Park, Northern, Alnwick, Jarrow and Novocastrains joined their hosts Gosforth in a days rugby adventure.

Teams competed for the honours in age groups from under 8s to under 12s and a very high standard of rugby was evident from the beginning.

The results were spread across the county with no club sweeping the board with the prizes.

The under 8s tag event was won by Northern Rugby Club with Tynedale runners-up.

The under 9s competition was won by Tynedale beating Percy Park RFC into second place.

The under 10s challenge saw Alnwick RFC overcome Percy Park to take the honours.

The under 11s event was won by Alnwick RFC piping Northern RFC to the top prize.

Finally the under 12s competition was won by Carlisle RFC after a thrilling competition with Blaydon RFC taking second.

Gosforth Rugby Club would like to thank all the players, coaches and families that turned out and the spirit of rugby was very evident. A tribute to all the clubs for their hard efforts.
