Your News Doncaster 42 - Sedgely Park Tigers 5

oncaster Knights crash six of the best past a Sedgley Tigers side who simply ran out of ideas, the 42 points to 5 victory propelling them back into the top four. A steady but intelligent finish to the game showed a team maturing into its role.

First half tries from Adam Kettle (2), Wes Davies, and the ever improving Stevie McColl along with some excellent kicking by returning Fly Half Ali Warnock saw the Knights go in at the break 32 points to 5. Back row forward Adam Kettle was in galloping form, setting up the try for Davies as well as scoring his own brace. Ali Warnock may have played himself back into contention, finding touch at will and adding extra points to complement the tries scored.

A contentious pass by Tigers Newton, which at its very best may have been flat if not forward, sent Jones through to score Sedgleys only try and points of the day on 21 minutes. From then on the Tigers seemed to become a defensive unit, challenging the Knights to try and break them down.

The Knights came out for the second half, and after a great steal from Wright the supporting Chris Hallam fire out a wide ball for Wes Davies who duly crossed the line. A long period of dogged defending by Sedgley and pragmatic attack from the Knights. With 20 minutes left Simon Grainger played a neat one –two with Carter before scoring the last try of the day. At 42 points to 5 there was clearly no way back into the game for Sedgley, and the Knights stuck to steady and possibly too cautious rugby until the end.

The Knights next game is at home this coming Saturday, with a 2.30pm kick off not 3pm as advertised in some publications.
