Your News Yatton draw another blank weekend

Quirks of the weather and opposition lacking numbers meant last Saturday was a blank day for Yatton Rugbys senior sides.

The scheduled league match against Paignton for Yattons raring to go 1st XV was cancelled with a few days notice. Several travelling supporters had booked hotel rooms in Devon but Yatton were informed that the council owned pitch was water logged and would not be worked on for that day.

At 1-30pm Yattons 2nd XV were sat at the club waiting for Clevedon 2nds, who only had eleven players after their 3rds had travelled away and with minutes to go Yattons 3rd XV were told by their expected visitors Oldfield that they could not raise a side either.

But this Saturday sees the rescheduled local league derby between Clevedon and Yatton 1st XVs. These basement clubs were due to meet at Clevedon on January 10th when hard frost cancelled the match. The result could be worth potential four points to either side, pride is a stake and the outcome may indicate how the map of senior rugby in the North Somerset triangle has changed over the last few seasons. Kick-off 2.30pm Weather permitting.

Meanwhile Yatton 2nds travel to Oldfield and Yatton 3rds hope that Walcot will be there when they arrive.

On Sunday Under 17s are off to Bridgwater and the Under 16s travel to Bristol.

Under 14s expect to entertain Clevedon and the Junior sides will be training.
