Your News South Woodham Ferrers 36 - West Norfolk 10

SWF had the perfect start when a loose ball was collected

by Lee guess, his well timed pass found the supporting scrum half

Joe Dukelow to score. The long journey seemed to have an effect

on the visitors as Woodham started to dominate the game in all areas.

From a scrum won against the head the ball was moved down the blind

and the recycled ball was popped to Sean Slater who drove to the line,

quick ball from the ruck allowed fellow prop Jiggins to crash over under

the posts. Brown converted 12-0. West Norfolk did keep the ball well

picking and driving into Woodham's half but the home team's organised

defence snuffed out any threat. On the few occasions the visitors did

move the ball wider Woodham's back line read their plays. From one such

move centre Leon Gateson anticipation gave him an interception on the

half way line where he ran in to score under the posts. 19-0. SWF moved

the ball well pulling West Norfolk's defence out of position. After Duggan

had linked with his opposite winger Charlie Clark the ball was moved quickly

across the line for prop Jiggins to turn up as a centre to score. Brown kick

was good 26-0. The home team were in complete control and from a penalty

Woodham opted for a scrum 10 metres out. Guess moving to no8 picked up

and went, from the quick ruck ball a long pass was well received by Brown

who wrong footed his opposite number to score and then convert 33-0.

Just before half time a number of chances went astray when simple passing

would have allowed captain Mcllean to score a hat-trick

Half time 33-0

West Norfolk's team talk at half time had the desired affect. The visitors

were a completely different team after the break and with their game plan

of keeping the ball close and playing nine man rugby they frustrated the

home team. SWF were unable to get hold of the ball and this resulted in a number of

penalties and eventually a yellow card for no 6 Marshall. This was turning

into a game of two halves, with West Norfolk having all the territory and possession

they were finally rewarded with a try in the corner following some good passing

along their back line. 33-5. The visitors buoyed up by their score continued

in the same vein and with some good controlled short driving manage to score

a second. 33 -10. Marc Jiggins was rightly yellow carded for inappropriate language

after an altercation. SWF only meaningful attack came from a good line out.

The ball was moved swiftly in the backs with Duggan coming off his wing to

join the line and stopped just short. The ball was killed and a yellow card was

shown to the visitors. Brown duly converted 36-10.

Final score 36 -10.
