Your News Teignmouth 1st TRY Feast

Teignmouth were hungry for tries this week after failing to score last week in there defeat at Chipping Sodbury.

Taking the field on a cold afternoon at Bitton Park the first of 11 tries came after 9minutes from No.8 Mark Annal, the tries then came at regular intervals but not before Ivan Pitman had scored the only penalty of the match after 12min. St Columba infringing in front of their posts.

18 minutes in saw Colin Aldworth dive over for a try for Ivan Pitman to convert then after a very good movement skipper Andy Kinmond took the ball at pace and went in to the right of the posts for Pitman to convert.

The next try was the first of three for winger Will Sowden who ran in after beating two defenders to score under the posts Pitman converting. Four minutes after his first came the second for Will Sowden racing in to score to the right of the posts for Pitman to convert.

Teignmouth had a lap's of concentration and let St.Columba in for a push over try on 37min which they failed to convert but Teignmouth struck back immediately with a break through the St Columba's defence by centre Neil Warren to score under the post for Pitman to convert.

Half-time score: Teignmouth 43pts St Columba 5pts.

The second half saw St Columba score first through there full-back in the right hand corner after some poor defence by Teignmouth. Shortly after the restart centre Byron Woods ran in the first of the tries for Teignmouth in the second half scoring to the left of the posts for Pitman to convert.

After 15 minutes No.7 Joe Cockram was assisted over the line for his first try of the afternoon by skipper Andy Kinmond Pitman missing this conversion.

Sowden ran in his hat-trick after 19min into the second half by breaking down the right side and beating the defence with pure speed to score under the posts again Pitman converting.

Sowden and Couch both wings were then substituted by Beare and Haarer after 20min.

Shortly after coming onto the field Beare made a good break down the right side of the field beating several defenders to pass the ball back inside to hooker Andy Webber who ran in unaposed to score under the post Pitman converting.

Last try of the match went to the person who scored the first try Mark Annal with a good break through the defence to score out wide.

Final result Teignmouth 74pts St Columba 10pts.

Next week Teignmouth take on Plymouth Barbarians in Plymouth which will complete the half way stage of the league programme which will hopefully see them on top of the league at the half way stage.

Teignmouth Reserves take on Bideford in the merit table at home KO 3pm.
