Bath Rugby Ladies succeeded in a landmark victory, winning at Southampton-based Trojans for the first time, 12 points to 5.

The home team started the strongest through their powerful forwards and it took a while for the Bath team to find their rhythm. Following a cross-field kick, centre Charlotte Boggis was able to break down the wing and offload of fly half Sarah Holloway, who scored to secure first blood. Fullback Darel Poole narrowly missed the conversion kick.

Next, a blindside break by Trojans resulted in a unconverted to level the game. Bath’s response to this was continued pressure in the home team’s half, leading to a pushover try by Poole, also converted by the fullback.

The second half was a tense and tight affair, with the Bath team having the better of the third quarter. Trojans pressurised the Bath line in the final quarter, but were unable to break the outstanding defence.

Bath Rugby Head Coach Jimmy Deane said, “Against a very powerful team, I thought the girls played some great rugby in patches and showed fantastic spirit to withstand the onslaught on our line in the last ten minutes. Very few teams get to win away at Trojans, and I am very proud of the girls’ efforts.”
