Glasgow Hawks 20-15 West of Scotland: Hawks grab the points

HAWKS left it late to clinch victory against their Glasgow neighbours, full-back Craig Gossman wriggling over with three minutes to go, and Mike Rainey adding a fine conversion and then a late penalty.

After a scrappy, physical first 15 minutADVERTISEMENTes, West full-back Peter Horne ran in for a beauty of a try after classy work by Andy Park for Conor Davis to convert.

Hawks upped their game for Ian Noble to cross for the home side's opening try, Noble slotting the conversion. West's influential No10 Davis then left the field with a knee injury.

Noble then slotted a penalty to take Hawks ahead 10-7 at the interval.

The second half started at a frantic pace, and after 48 minutes a Horne penalty levelled the score. Noble then had to go off with an arm injury, leaving both sides without their starting No10s.

A West surge ended with Michael Sim touching down with 15 minutes left, but Hawks had the final say.
