Your News Millwall U17 extend unbeaten run

Millwall Lions under 17s extended their winning streak to 3 matches on Sunday with a 26-5 thrashing of East London at Millwall Park.

Scrum half and man of the match Billy Gray scored two tries and slotted over two penalties despite being moved to an unfamiliar position in the back line.

Usually a centre or fly half, Gray adjusted to the new role quickly, scoring the Lions first try off his own box kick inside the East London 22.

He then followed up with two penalties from distance to give Millwall an 11-5 edge going into half time.

Barnstorming runs from props David Hayward and Michael Delastie set the tone for the second half as Millwall exerted their dominance over the visiting pack.

East London defended gallantly in an attempt to stop the scoring run but their efforts were left in tatters as rolling maul up field sent loose forward Oliver Jardine over for a try no more than 2 seconds after entering the field from the bench.

Full of confidence and enthusiasm, Millwall looked to turn the screws on their opposition. After absorbing the pressure of a desperate East London attack, winger Jack Rowland burst through the gain line, inside his own half and sprinted un-touched to the try line to score.

Earlier in the day, Millwall Lions U15s continued their improvement despite going down to Brentwood U15s 35-5.

Scrum half Josh Coote scored Millwall's only try, while man of the match Nassim Hussain was relentless on defence.

Millwall Lions are set to launch three new teams in January 2009 - U9s, U10s and U13s and is actively looking for additional players. Anyone interested should call Matt on 07884012678 or email
