Premiership giants London Irish Community Department paid another welcome visit to Alton Rugby Club for the annual Rugby MasterClass during half-term week at the end of October.

More than 80 young players between the ages of eight and 16 took part in MasterClass, enjoying two great days of first-class coaching in the process.

The Exiles' Community Development Manager Philippos Kyriacou and his team of community coaches put the youngsters through their paces during the two-day course, working on passing, running, handling, rucking, mauling and tackling.

It wasn't all hard graft, though, as players took part in a variety of games and competitions.

On the second day, the players also got a very special surprise when London Irish first-team players Faan Rautenbach (prop) and Elvis SevealiI (centre) dropped by to say hello.

They were delighted to see the youngsters in action at their afternoon training session and were very impressed with what they saw. They even joined in a few of the sessions.

As part of their MasterClass experience the youngsters also get a free ticket to watch the Exiles at the Madejski Stadium during the 2008/9 season.

Commenting on the two-day rugby MasterClass, Community Development Manager Philippos Kyriacou said, Weve had a fantastic two days here at Alton RFC and have enjoyed being back at Anstey Park.

"Everybody has worked very hard throughout the course with their coaches focusing on various different skills and techniques. Hopefully theyll be able to use what theyve learnt in real game situations.

"Id like to wish them all the best for the rest of season and look forward to seeing them again really soon. Id like to thank Faan and Elvis for coming down on Thursday making the camp one to remember."
