Your News Coney Hill 43 - Swanage & Wareham 15

Swanage & Wareham travelled to Gloucester based Coney Hill on Saturday, and due to injuries and non- availabilities they decided to include several up and coming players in their squad. These players were Harry Bocio at hooker, Kirk Jones at wing forward and Jac Warren at fly half. Two of the trio scored on the day, and Harry Bocio also had an outstanding game.

Swans had an early chance to take the lead with a penalty in the first minute, but the kick was sliced. Three minutes later a loose ball was picked up by a Coney Hill centre, he beat the defence and went in for a try in the corner to give the hosts a 5pts 0pts advantage. Ten minutes later, after Swans had driven the hosts backwards at a scrum, the ball was kicked ahead by Swans, Coney Hill full back retrieved the ball, kicked ahead, gathered the ball and went in for the home sides second try. After 25 minutes another Swans attack in the oppositions 22 metres line, a tremendous drive and after several phases had newcomer Kirk Jones going over for his first try for Swans 1st XV. Jac Warren added the extras to make the score 10pts 7pts. Swans were not out of the game and on 34 minutes Jac Warren levelled the score with a penalty goal. Unfortunately just before half time from a scrum in the Swans 22, Coney Hill broke clear to score a converted try close to the posts. Half Time Coney Hill 17pts Swans 10pts.

The hosts added another converted try on 52 minutes to give them a 24pts 10pts lead, but a penalty to Swans took them into the Coney Hill 22 metres line, and from a line out catch/drive move Swans second row Dan Collins went over for Swans second try after an hour giving the score at 24pts 15pts.From there on it did not get any better for Swans and in the final fifteen minutes Coney Hill ran in three more tries as Swans players tired in those minutes meaning that Coney Hill ran out winners by 43pts 15pts which was not representative of the hard work and commitment that the Swans had put in.
