Your News Bedford Athletic 29 - Towcestrians 7

On Saturday the match between Bedford Athletic and Towcestrians surprisingly went ahead due to Athletics’ astonishing clearance of the snow. This was one of three Midlands games that were played. If Athletic were to win it would Tows first run of consecutive losses this season and it would take Bedford to the top of the table.

In the first half Tows had to battle hard through the conditions as the snow lashed down. Tows held out against the hosts until an infringement three quarters of the way through the half which allowed the hosts to take a penalty.

Suddenly just before the whistle for half time Tows conceded the first try of the game through a ferocious lineout drive.

After the break Athletics’ qualities really began to show as there pin point accurate kicks in the freezing conditions successfully delivered them two tries. A mistake from Tows’ fullback and winger lead to the bonus point try for the hosts.

Tows then took a rare trip into the Athletics half, there efforts were then rewarded by a try from Eugene Baxter to end the game.

On Saturday 30th March Tows play against Spalding in a game that was postponed a few weeks ago due to the conditions KO 15:00.

On Wednesday Tows welcome Casuals to Greens Norton Road in the Lewis Shield Clash KO 19:30 weather permitting.
