MATCH REPORT: Felsted School 13-19 Royal Latin School

Joe Robeys try 11 minutes from time ensured that Royal Latin School saw off the challenge of a spirited Felsted School in the Daily Mail RBS U15 Vase final.

Felsted went into the break 13-7 in front thanks to tries from Matthew Lumb and Stefan Warner in addition to a James Lennon penalty, with James Bassford replying for Royal Latin.

But Buckinghamshire outfit Royal Latin recovered in the second half as tries from Robey and Elliot Pittwood sealed victory on their first visit to Twickenham.

Felsted established early field position and opened the scoring with only two minutes on the clock through the boot of Lennon, who slotted a simple penalty from the 22.

Royal Latin struck back straight away, however, as they spread the ball to right wing Bassford, who brushed past the covering defence for a fine try in the corner, Will Hughes striking an excellent conversion.

Felsteds Lumb had looked a threat throughout the opening quarter, and the fullback grabbed his teams second try in style on 17 minutes as he raced home from deep inside his own half for five points.

The Essex school extended their lead further three minutes before the interval when Warner dived on Lennons well weighted chip, with the latters conversion attempt hitting the post.

Royal Latins response was swift and, following a series of pick-and-drives early in the second half, second row Pittwood burrowed over from close range to bring his side to within a point.

And Robey completed the comeback as the game entered its closing stages, the prop barging over after Ollie Toone had been dragged down just short as Hughes added the extras.
