Your News Weymouth bring together local rugby playing youngsters

Girls and boys from primary schools in Weymouth and Dorchester enjoyed an afternoon at Weymouth Rugby Club participating in their annual Tag Rugby Festival. Upwards of 100 players from Years 5 and 6 took part in this non-contact version of the game, which was run by rugby club members, ably assisted by Community Support Police Officers. The games were played in a competitive but good sporting spirit and the teams who eventually came out top were from Chickerell and St Andrews Preston.

This annual event brings together children who are being taught tag rugby at school and introduces them to playing at a community rugby club. Weymouth RFC have a thriving Junior Section and are always looking to recruit players from age 5 upwards. For further details log on to their website at or contact Des Quick on 01035 779345.
