Your News Windsor 39 - Swanage & Wareham 5

In Swans latest Southwest 1(East) fixture they had to travel to Windsor, still fighting relegation, but it was not to be in this fixture.

Swans started badly as in the first five minutes Windsor took the lead with a try by a winger in the corner. Swans then started to dominate the play and unfortunately missed with a penalty attempt in the eighth minute. With the visitors attacking the Windsor line an interception by a Windsor winger, who ran from inside his own 22 metres line to score a converted try under Swans posts(12pts- 0pts.) after 14 minutes. Despite this reverse, Swans continued to press forward and had much more of the play in the hosts half than in their own half. From a penalty to Swans after 32 minutes, fly half Charlie Parish put Swans into the Windsor 5 metres line and from a well worked and practiced line out move, No.8 Joe Desmond went over the try line to reduce the lead to 12pts 5pts. In the last minute of the half Swans had a try disallowed but Swans claimed that the ball was touched down on the line. Half time Windsor 12pts Swans 5pts.

Windsor scored an early penalty in the second half, and once again, after 50 minutes, as Swans were attacking inside the Windsor 22 another interception by a Windsor centre set him free to run most of the length of the field to score under the posts( 22pts 5pts). Windsor scored another try in the corner ten minutes later as they outflanked the Swans defence, but Swans had much of the play but could not convert pressure into points. With 5 minutes to go Windsor added their fourth try which was converted making the score 34pts 5pts, but in the last minute a third interception by Windsor, this time on the half way line, had the hosts going in for another try, in the corner, leaving the final score at 39pts 5pts.
