Your News Stephenson Studio Rugby preparations underway

Students at the Stephenson Studio School's rugby club have begun preparations for the upcoming Rugby Sevens season. The boys are training hard three times a week and a good sense of team work is emerging.

This bodes well for the upcoming season ahead of them.

A bit of background:

Rugby is a developing sport at the school and has been met with a warm reception. Due to the small numbers at the school the validitiy of a full sided 15s team in the first season was not going to be possible. However 13 boys have signed up to be part of the rugby club this year.

Training got off to a slow start with many of our boys having never played the sport before, recieving a crash course on the basics or handling, tackling, rucking, scrummaging, support play and kicking.

However the aptitude and enthusiasm shown by these players so far has been second to none and many have come on leaps and bounds showing a real enthusiasm and talent for the sport.

It has also helped to create some genuine relationships amongst the players and this is evident not only on the field training but also around the school site.

As things progress be sure to keep yourself updated by checking the website as all current news and fixtures will be updated on this site on a regular basis.

Myself and the Club look forward to your support over the coming season whether you are a parent, student or member of staff.

Mr. R. Jonas
