Your News Swanage & Wareham 3 - Coney Hill 15

Swanage & Wareham welcomed Coney Hill, a district of Gloucester, to Bestwall last Saturday, and in atrocious conditions which made good rugby impossible, both sides put up a commendable performance.

Coney Hill started the stronger with their dominating early on, but Swans handled the onslaught well, and gradually moved forward. A penalty took Swans into the visitors 22, and from a maul the ball was passed back to fly half Charlie Parish, who calmly dropped a goal, after fifteen minutes. The play was even for the rest of the first half with both sides coming close to scoring, with Swans having a try disallowed as Charlie Rowberry chased a ball to the dead ball line, but at the interval Swans were ahead 3 0 thanks to the drop goal.

As the rain continued to fall, both sides had difficulties, but Coney Hill struck after 49 minutes with a disputed try scored in the corner. 3pts 5pts. Swans tried to come back, but when they scored a try from a charge down the referee disallowed it for a knock on. After 63 minutes a break away by the visitors down the right had Coney Hill scrabbling over for a try to take the score to 3pts 10pts. Three minutes later the visitors added to their score with another try in the corner making the final score Swanage & Wareham 3pts Coney Hill 15pts.
