Swanage & Wareham travelled to Witney, in Oxfordshire, with a somewhat weakened side due to injuries and unavailabilities. Although Swans put up a good display in the first half, more injuries on the day meant rearranging the team on the field with disastrous results.

After only six minutes, Swans took the lead when a penalty to the corner, meant that a catch and drive move by the visitors had flank forward Chris Tomes coming up with the ball 0-5 to Swans. Both sides were giving away penalties, but to no avail by both sides. On 23 minutes Swans lost fly half Dom Smith to a leg injury being replaced by James Harris. Two minutes later Witney levelled the scores with a try in the corner. Just after the half hour mark Rory Triniman landed a penalty goal to put Swans 8 5 up, but before the break Witney were back on terms. 8pts each at half time.

Another injury at half time meant that prop John Sheldrake was replaced by Tom Frampton. Five minutes into the half Witney scored a try in the corner, followed by a penalty to lead 16pts 8 pts. Triniman replied with a penalty for Swans to reduce the lead to 16pts 11. On the hour mark a controversial penalty try was awarded to Witney with Rory Triniman being yellow carded. This meant Swans were a man down with nobody to take the kick offs. In the ten minutes that Triniman was off, Witney scored two more tries taking the score to 37 11. Another injury to Charlie Rowberry meant another re-arrangement of players for Swans, and in the last three minutes Witney added two more converted tries to leave the final score at Witney 51pts Swans 11pts.
