Home wins across the board in SSE National League Two North on Saturday included victories for the top six sides in the division.

League leaders Stourbridge maintained their perfect record against Otley with an eighth straight bonus-point win. The Saxons were dominant from start to finish, running in nine tries in total – three of them going to wing Jamie Hearn.

Second-placed Hull Ionians kept up their side of the bargain with a 42-15 win at home to Stockport. Ionians had the bonus point in the bag by half-time and went on to add three more scores after the break.

Darlington Mowden Park extended their winning run to seven games after a 34-18 success at home to Luctonians. Fly-half Grant Connon contributed 19 of his side’s points through a try, four conversions and two penalties.

Sheffield Tigers edged out Bromsgrove in the most entertaining match of the day, winning 42-41 at Dore Moor. Both sides scored five tries apiece, Jamie Broadley and Pete Swatkins getting a double for the home side.

Preston piled on the points against a Huddersfield side still searching for its first win. Goal kicking full-back Sean Taylor led the way for ‘Hoppers with a 31-point haul.

Two penalty tries, a brace from Gareth Collins and further scores from Jonathan Lowdon and Jack Gibbons helped Leicester Lions see off Caldy. Lions established a 23-point lead at half-time before going on to win 39-13.

Birmingham & Solihull and Westoe were the only sides in the bottom half of the table to record a win. The Bees beat Hull 34-16 to leapfrog their opponents into 10th. Full-back Oscar Heath scored two of his side’s five tries.

At the eighth attempt Westoe finally got their season up and running thanks to a 34-32 victory at home to Dudley Kingswinford. The game swung one way and then the other and went right down to the wire. Dudley’s Gareth Bown had the chance to snatch a draw but he was unable to convert Simon Fletcher’s last-gasp try –taken as a drop goal after the ball had fallen off the kicking tee –in what proved to be the final act of the game.
