Your News Romford 4XV 32 - Millwall 3XV 24

The score line misrepresents what was an excellent performance for Millwall’s 3rd team, the ‘odd socks’. The forwards set the pace of the game, making considerable territory gains and the backs matched their high standards showing flare in shaking off the Romford defence.

Alex DolaLarmz stood out as Millwall’s key player. In his first season at adult level, his ‘pick and go’ game not only set up Kevin Henry for the first of Millwall’s four tries but also won him Man of the Match.

Kevin scored another try before half time, at which point the game was pretty even, with Romford just one try ahead. The second half saw a flurry of tries for both sides, including a ‘Champagne rugby’ moment for Millwall’s Harland Sinclair, known as ‘Cheese’, who was playing in his last game for the club before moving back to New Zealand. He picked up a turnover deep in Millwall’s own 22 and ran the length of the pitch shrugging off numerous tackles from the Romford defence before touching down between the posts.

Jack Rowland scored the last of Millwall’s tries and kicked two conversions. The spirited performance was not enough to win the game on the day, but did please 3rd Team Manager, Kevin Doherty who said “It was an impressive performance from the whole team. If we can continue at this level, we will be very hard to beat this season”.

Millwall 3rd XV Tries: Kevin Henry x 2, Harland Sinclair, Jack Rowland.

Conversions: Jack Rowland x 2.
