Your News Swanage & Wareham 29 - Bletchley 28

Swanage & Wareham rugby club welcomed Bletchley to Bestwall in the latest Southwest 1(East) league game, and with debutant Dominick Davies who has moved back to Swans from Bournemouth looked stronger on paper and so it proved.

As usual Swans started nervously and after only 40 seconds they were a converted try down as Bletchley full back Will Garrett broke clear down the touchline to move inside and score under the posts. Fly half Phil Harman added the extras. Almost immediately as Swans attacked the visitors line, Swans stand off Charlie Parish landed a drop goal to reduce the score to 3pts 7 pts. After only 8 minutes a clean break by Swans centre Rory Triniman, he drew the full back, passed inside to Charlie Parish for Swans fly half to score under the posts. Triniman added the conversion- 10 7 to Swans. The lead changed once again as from a catch/drive move Bletchley second row John Kerwan forced his way over the try line and two minutes later the visitors added a penalty goal to go 10 15 ahead. Close to the half hour mark a penalty to Swans took them to within 5 metres of the Bletchley line and from another catch/drive move, Swans powered over the line with lock forward Dan Collins coming up with the ball. 15 15. Just before half time Swans once again transgressed and Harman landed the penalty goal to go into half time at 15pts 18pts.

Swans started the second half by putting pressure on Bletchley, and from a line out Swans passed the ball all along the three-quarters to winger Charlie Rowberry who scored half way out. Rory Triniman added the extras, 22pts 18pts to Swans. Just after the hour mark a penalty to Swans took them close to the Bletchley line, and from the line out a similar move set Charlie Rowberry clear to score his second try out wide. Triniman added the conversion for Swans to go up 29 18. With ten minutes to go, from a line out close to Swans line, Bletchley powered their way over the try line with flank forward Stuart van Rooyan claiming the score 29 23.

In the final minute Swans were under pressure, and from a line out, once again van Rooyan worked his way over Swans try line to bring the score to 29 28. Fortunately, for Swans, Phil Harman, from out wide, missed with the conversion, giving Swans their first five pointer of the season, and moving themselves off the foot of the league table.
