Ealing scored 56 points for the second time in as many weeks to continue their impressive start to the season. Having notched up a half-century of points against Macclesfield the previous Saturday this time Ealing put Tynedale to the sword, with Phil Chesters scoring a hat-trick and Sam Shires well to the fore against his former club in a 56-24 victory.

There was an abundance of points elsewhere, a total of 67 tries - at an average of 8.4 per game -being scored across the division. Eleven tries came at The Woollams where both Old Albanians and Blackheath achieved try bonus points. Club won a pulsating game by 51 points to 31, former Esher and Plymouth man Geoff Griffiths getting two of his sides seven tries.

Coventry racked up a second successive try bonus point after condemning Loughborough Students to a fourth straight loss. Coventry powered to a 35-10 lead at the interval, outscoring the visitors by five tries to one. But the students rallied bravely after the break and, in the end, Coventry were indebted to 16 points from the boot of Cliffie Hodgson for their 41-34 victory.

Blaydon also managed 41 points at home but only after they came good in the final quarter. Fylde led the north east outfit approaching the hour mark only to see the game taken away from them by a three-try burst. Meanwhile, four second-half tries helped Cinderford continue their fine start to the campaign with a 38-19 win over struggling Macclesfield.

Sedgley Park also came on strong after the break to earn a try bonus point at home to Richmond. The Tigers emerged with a 37-17 victory with all four of their tries coming in the second half.

Rosslyn Park kept Cambridge pointless in the first period, racing to a 15-0 lead thanks to a try, conversion and penalty from Sam Katz plus a try from back-rower Huge Ellis. Cambridge came back into the contest but two Charlie Broughton tries ensured Park left with the points.

In the only other game to take place Wharfedale edged out Esher to win 18-15.
