Henley celebrated a third bonus-point win in as many weeks after completing a nine-try demolition job on Southend. James Combden scored a hat-trick for the Hawks who have now crossed the opposition line on no fewer than 19 occasions this season. It was also the Hawks’ first-ever win at Warners Bridge.

Worthing have certainly made up for lost time having had to sit out the opening weekend of the season, posting 16 tries in their two outings to date. Struggling Barking were on the receiving end of their attacking thrust on Saturday, as the Raiders ran in nine tries in a 58-3 success at Goresbrook. Last season’s top points scorer Matt McLean helped himself to 22 points.

Bournemouth won the battle of the two promoted sides from National 3 London & SE after putting 41 points on Chinnor. Six different players got on the scoresheet for the rampant Lions who travel to Redruth in the next round of matches.

Captain Pete Kelly led by example as his hat-trick helped Canterbury earn a 35-7 win away to Lydney. Canterbury are level on 10 points with Worthing and Shelford, who came back from a 14-point deficit to beat Clifton 32-24 at Cribbs Causeway.

Taunton won their first game under the ‘Titans’ moniker following a hard-fought West Country derby against Dings Crusaders. An error-strewn clash was settled when the home side’s No.8 Greg Charlton broke free seven minutes from time to score a try that Brett Turner converted.

The remaining game of the weekend ended in a draw, with nothing to separate Launceston and Hartpury College at Polson Bridge. Tim Mathias’ late score rescued a share of the spoils for the Cornish All Blacks. Wing Jack Hayes scored a brace of tries for the visitors.
