In the last of their pre season games Kenilworth gave the coaching team much to ponder in a fine display involving 27 players, none of whom looked out of place. Facing a Veseyans side who will operate in the parallel league in West Midland North, Kenilworth had too much pace and power, allied to no little skill, and posted ten tries, all of which were converted. Set pieces were solid and the interplay between backs and forwards led to some great phases of play. Even in the last quarter with the visitors pounding the line for a consolation score, the K's defended with passion to keep their line intact. All in all a very satisfying display in advance of the first league game on September 8th at home against Dunlop.

Scorers:

Tries

Nyle Beckett (3), Bobby Thompson, Ross Lowthian, Dominic Sheehan, Simon Tyler,

Jonny Openshaw, Stephen Todd, Tom Kendall

KENILWORTH CAVALIERS 38 HARBURY 19 (1ST SEPT)

The Kenilworth Cavaliers (2nd XV) continued the club's 'Game On' weekend with a solid performance beating Harbury 1st XV 38 points to 19 in front of the Glasshouse Lane faithful.

After the 1st XV performance in midweek, attention turned to the Cavaliers in their first game of the season. 32 players took the opportunity to show off their skills in this trial match played over four, twenty minute sessions.

The visitors', led by talismanic skipper Matthew Knight, made the early running and took the first quarter thanks to solid set piece play and a series of strong driving mauls. As the game went on the Cavaliers got more into their stride and were soon running in tries of their own thanks to some pleasing interplay between forwards and backs. The Cavaliers ran in 6 tries led by new signings Matt Holton and Mark Turner with a brace each. Rhys Llewellyn and mark Johnson the other scorers.

This game completed the Kenilworth senior section's preparation for the season with both the 1st team (home to Dunlop) and the Cavaliers (home to Rugby St. Andrews) in league action next week. In total over 50 players have taken the opportunity to impress Director of Rugby, Richard Gibson and his coaching team who will now select the squads for the league openers.

Training is at 7pm on Tuesday (Cow Patch) and Thursday (main club). All players welcome.
