Swanage & Wareham rugby club welcomed Marlow to Bestwall for their first game of the 2012/13 season in league Southwest 1(East), and in an exciting but not error free game the visitors, in the end, proved too powerful for Swans.

Swans started with an early penalty by fly half, Charlie Parish, but almost immediately Marlow took the lead with a try in the corner and a penalty to go 3pts - 8pts up. After 20 minutes, Swans debut centre Rory Triniman was on hand to cross the try line for a converted try for Swans to lead by 10 8. Another penalty put Swans further ahead, but five minutes later Marlow took the lead again as back row forward Jonny Wolfe scored a converted try to put the visitors 13 15 ahead. However just before the break, Swans winger Charlie Rowberry scored a tremendous try in the corner to give Swans an 18pts 15pts half time lead.

As Swans attacked the Marlow line early in the second half, the ball broke clear, Marlow winger Matt Saunders collected and ran 90 metres down the touchline to score close in. Nick Carvey added the extras to put Marlow up by 18 22. Swans continued to attack and from a line out a catch/drive move by Swans had replacement prop forward Tom Frampton claiming the score. Parish converted leaving Swans 25 22 in the lead after an hours play. From this point on Swans could not get into the game, and with a few errors in tackling Marlow scored two tries and two penalties to Marlow saw them go into a 25 37pts lead after another ten minutes. Swans tried hard to come back into the match, but another mistake saw Marlow adding another converted try in the last minute to give them a scoreline which flatted the visitors as Swans played a full part in this defeat.
