Your News Swanage & Wareham look forward to new season

Swanage & Wareham are looking forward to their opening game of the league season in Southwest 1(East) season, having had a relatively successful pre-season number of outings. Firstly Swans defeated Trojans a week ago, by 29 17, and then visited Weymouth last Tuesday when they ran in five unanswered tries without stretching themselves unduly. Going to Portsmouth this Saturday, without some of their established players such as Charlie Rowberry, Olly Andrews and Daffyd Wright the squad put up a brilliant performance for the first 60 minutes with a converted try from Charlie Parish, and a couple of penalties from the same player to go behind at 14pts 13pts in that time. Putting on some of the less senior players and replacing some injured players in the team, upset the balance of the squad and Portsmouth ran in a few tries to give them victory by a margin that did not reflect the effort and ability of the Swans players.

So, hopefully, with most of the Swans team fit, and with the return of the more established players, they welcome Marlow to Bestwall next Saturday, the 1st of September with a 3.00 p.m. kick off for the first league game of the season. Swans have recruited some new faces in particular scrum half George Armstrong and centre Rory Triniman and also welcome back centre Mike Cottrell who did not play all of last season because of injury. Most of the pack have established themselves over the last few years, and with a few up and coming players from the lower sides Swans seem to in fine shape for the coming season.
