Your News Blaydon 21 - Rosslyn Park 8

For 10 minutes the visitors gave a glimpse of why they are currently 5th in the league but that was as long as it lasted once the Blaydon pack began to assert. A kickable penalty was put to the corner by Andrew Baggett for Park to suffer the same fate as so many others.

The line-out ball was comfortably gathered in and a maul formed to march it to the line for Robert Bell to touch down and Blaydon were on their way.

Fraser Wilson was next to attack the line only to be held back by his shirt tails and it fell to Matt Clark to secure the second try. A tap penalty move took play into the 22 but Park appeared to have turned it over only for the ball to momentarily go loose.

Just enough for it to be snapped up by Clark who then in his inimitable style ghosted past 2 defenders to stroll in under the posts. With Baggett's 2 conversions it was a 14 point lead at the break at which point the heavens opened.

In dreadful conditions the visitors began the second period as they had the first but other than a Bill Robinson penalty it soon fizzled out and once more the Blaydon forwards showed them how it was done.

Keith Laughlin drove into the 22, Park were pushed off their own scrum ball, Andrew Davies made a dart from a Blaydon scrum and with the defence in disarray Robbie Kalbraier crossed for a third try.

And that was that until late on when Robinson finished off a rare Park attack with a try under the posts in the 79th minute, but in attempting to maintain the impetus was told his drop-kick conversion had been taken from the wrong place.

All in all another day at the office for Blaydon with yesterdays try scorers Messrs Bell, Clark and Kalbraier all now level on 11 for the season.
