Blaydon ran in 6 tries to record a tremendous victory on the road and but for finishing with just 13 men the winning margin would have been much greater.

The start could not have been better with both props crossing for tries in the first 4 minutes, Director of rugby Micky Ward grabbing his first for the club from close range and then Robbie Kalbraier after 2 driving mauls following the restart.

Andrew Baggett who went on to also land 4 conversions put over a penalty before the forwards again drove into the 22 for Gavin Jones to touch down under the posts. By half-time a bonus point winning try had been secured through Robert Bell from a driving maul at a line-out and with the score at 0-29 the win looked already to be in the bag.

Sedgley came out with renewed vigour in the second period and having hardly entered the Blaydon 22 in the first 40 were soon over for a try by second-row Louis McGowan, who had also scored in the earlier game at Crow Trees, with Matt Riley adding the points.

The revival was to be short lived however as Blaydon pressed on with try No5 by Matt Clark who twisted and turned his way over after good work by the forwards.

Full-back Gavin Painter was last to cross after exchanging passes with Fraser Wilson and at 7-41 a monumental win was on the cards. But then the referee intervened to send firstly Dan Sanderson, a replacement who had only been on the field for 6 minutes, to the sin-bin and quickly followed that decision with another yellow card for Clark.

Sedgley had a life-line and the opportunity to alleviate the damage and did so with tries by Chris Wilkinson and Tom Leader.
