Richmonds hopes of claiming the Two South title suffered a blow in the West Country after they were beaten 18-16 at Launceston. But Old Albanians had no such problems in

Cornwall as they left Redruth with a bonus- point win in the bag to leapfrog Richmond at the top of the table. Six different Old As players found their way onto the scoresheet as they

recovered from an early 15-0 deficit to record win number 22 for the season.

The battle to avoid relegation also threatens to go right down to the wire with Westcombe Park refusing to accept their fate at the foot of the table. Park produced an impressive display

to beat Taunton with James Lindfield picking up three of his sides tries. Despite none of the other endangered clubs winning on the weekend the Kent club remain bottom of the pile

and eight points adrift of safety.

Nearest rivals Barnes suffered at the hands of Tim Holgate whose hat- trick helped Worthing to a 39-30 win, while Dings, who occupy the third relegation spot, were deprived the

consolation of a losing bonus point after conceding a late try at home to Hartpury College. Lydney and Hertford are still very much within touching distance, though, after they came out

on the wrong side of high scoring encounters away to Henley and Shelford respectively. But Southend, who parted company with Head Coach Andy Holloway earlier in the week,

allayed any lingering fears of relegation with a 51-32 win over Clifton.
