Your News National League 2 North review

Loughborough Students celebrated the Two North title with a 22-16 win at Sheffield Tigers. The side with the best attack and the best defence in the league cannot now be caught in

the four remaining weekends but they were made to fight every inch of the way before taking the plaudits that will deservedly come their way. The sides were level going into the final

ten minutes of the contest but two penalties from Andrew Hall guaranteed them National One rugby next season.

Caldy and Huddersfield are now left to battle it out for the promotion play- off spot that comes with second place. Caldy are in pole position after they won well at Westoe and

Huddersfield were held to a draw at Harrogate. Five tries and a flawless display of goalkicking from centre Gavin Roberts, who touched down himself, helped the Merseysiders to a

47-6 win. Huddersfield drew for the second week in succession after Dave Hall rescued two points with a last- gasp try at Claro Road.

The two points gained were sufficient to take Gate out of the relegation zone and above Leicester Lions, who slipped to a 34-19 loss at Hull. Lions are one of four sides contesting the

final two relegation places and luckily for them neither Otley, Harrogate nor Nuneaton were able to take advantage by picking up what would have been a priceless victory. Otley,

though, did get a losing bonus point in a 12-10 loss away to Luctonians. Relegated Kendal were hammered at Bromsgrove.
