With just 2 minutes remaining Blaydon were on the brink of turning what should have been a comfortable victory into an abject defeat. Crucially they had brought on Hall Charlton as a replacement for the final 10 and the scum-half quickly galvanised them into action, cajoled them back into Cinderford territory and prolific try scoring winger Fraser Wilson in his first game back after a lengthy illness got them out of jail with a blistering break down the right.

Having suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in the away game Blaydon seemed out for revenge from the start and it was entirely against the run of play when Cinderford winger Nevaro Codlin spreadeagled their defence and then went over from the resulting line-out.

Down to 14 men, Keith Laughlin yellow-carded in the Codlin score, Blaydon hit back with 3 tries in 7 minutes to rock the visitors. Firstly a penalty try was awarded when Cinderford infringed at each of three short scrums then Kevin McShane had a simple run-in when the ball went loose from a crunching Charles Inceldon tackle.

Tom Catterick squeezed over in the corner for the 3rd and although Cinderford scored again through Will Foden in only their second attack, Robert Bell touched down from a driving maul on the stroke of half-time for a bonus point try.

Leading 24-14 Blaydon carried on where they had left off but inexplicably infringed three times when in good attacking positions in the Cinderford 22, and then promptly went off the boil.

Cinderford were let back in and took advantage of a defensive lapse to close the gap with a Simeon James try. Mike Teague added the conversion for them, drew his side level with a penalty, and but for the brilliant late Wilson effort plus a third successful conversion by Andrew Baggett it could have been a totally unecessary defeat for Blaydon.
