BEDFORD Blues, holders of the Investabroad Properties National Colts Cup, face a trip to Cinderford in this seasons quarter-finals.

Bedford, who are attempting to win the competition for the fifth time in six seasons, progressed to the last eight by beating Hereford 30-0, despite suffering a coach breakdown that led to a delayed kick-off, in a fifth round tie last Sunday. Cinderford beat Trojans 13-5.

Two other Midlands clubs have joined Bedford in the quarter-finals with Old Northamptonians securing a home draw against Wadebridge Camels by beating Wharfedale 12-9.

Wolverhampton, who beat Staffordshire rivals Burton 26-3 in the fifth round, will now have another home tie against Ivybridge.

The other quarter final will see Chinnor, who beat Worthing at the weekend, hosting Doncaster.

All the quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on or before March 18.

The Investabroad Properties National Colts Cup was introduced in 1997/98 as part of the East Midlands RUs centenary celebrations. The National Colts Plate for sides beaten in rounds one to three of the cup was introduced two years later.

Bedford Blues won the Cup in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 and the Plate competition in 2009.

Both competitions are organised and administered by the East Midlands RU and have continued to grow in strength and popularity.
