Your News Kenilworth Colts 9 - Lutterworth Colts 10

The hors d'oeuvres to the England Wales game at Twickenham was an equally compelling encounter between

Kenilworth and Lutterworth. Lutterworth opened their account with a well taken drop goal, having taken the game to Kenilworth with pace and

width, leaving the home support grateful that they had not pressed for a try. Kenilworth responded to this with an excellent twenty minutes

which yielded three penalties from the trusty boot of stand off Prince including a 3-0 'win' with fourteen men on the field when centre Owen

was adjudged to have joined a fracas to add an unnecessary opinion and was somewhat harshly carded. Kenilworth had a number of chances to

cross the whitewash but poor hands and hot heads let the chances go begging.

The second half was a turnaround for Lutterworth up front. Having struggled in the scrum in the first half they began to take

balls against the head and made territory through their strong running backs. Kenilworth, however, defended superbly and kept the lead until

three minutes from time when Lutterworth drove a line out over in the Glasshouse Lane corner to leave the stand off with a very difficult

kick to put them in front. Much to Kenilworth's dismay the kick sailed over to record a one point win to the boys from Leicestershire.

Nonetheless, this was a good performance with the squad of 18 all playing a significant part. This augurs well for next week's game at

home against Southam and the following week's cup game against old foes Barker's Butts.
