NORTHERN Under 15 and Under 18 contenders hoping to put down a marker with the England Women’s Rugby Union selectors will be hoping for better luck with the weather than last weekend’s Senior team when they take on the Midlands at Five Ways, Worcester on Sunday.

While the Seniors are reorganising their postponed schedule, the two age-group squads are heading to Worcester RFC with a spring in their step after two very promising training camps.

"This year the Under 15s squad is a mixture of experienced players and exciting new talent and this is a reflection of how much the girls game has developed in the North,” says Under 15 Head Coach John Foster: “The players have all bonded extremely well at the Divisional Training Camp and we have all been impressed with their commitment and willingness to learn.

“Everyone is looking forward to taking part in this year's Divisional Programme which will certainly demonstrate that the future of England Women's rugby looks very bright indeed."

Under 18 Coach Adam Falkner mirrors Foster’s approach. He says: “We are all looking forward to the divisional season. Richard Freeman, head coach at Waterloo, has joined us and will bring a lot of development opportunities to the girls.

“Our team is a great mix of last season’s divisional girls and talented players from last season’s Under 15 squad pushing hard for inclusion. Over the training weekend all players were tested technically and tactically under pressure and I'm pleased to say each player relished this opportunity and performed to the limit of their ability.

“Our main goal, as always, it to develop the girls individually to enhance their prospects of becoming a England Under 20s player. We will aim to perform well during the game as individual players and as part of the team."
