Loughborough Students were one of five sides to win away from home on Saturday as they maintained a healthy lead at the top of the Two North table with a 20-3 success at Hull.

However, that lead is now ten points, not eleven, after the Students failed to register a bonus point and Westoe achieved maximum points at home to Preston Grasshoppers. Two tries

apiece for hooker Richie Thirkell and fly- half Charlie Rayner helped the Shieldsmen to victory.

The game of the day between promotion hopefuls Caldy and Huddersfield went the way of the Yorkshire side thanks, once again, to the boot of talisman and fly- half Chris Johnson.

Johnson supplied all of Fields points with a drop goal and three penalties the last of which won the game in the final minute of the contest at Paton Field. Johnson has contributed

58% of his sides points in total this season.

Luctonians have a game in hand on some of their rivals and still harbour promotion hopes after a 19-16 win at Harrogate. Gate, though, will be wondering how they let victory slip from

their grasp, having led the game all the way until the visitors winger, Will Richards dived over for the winning score in added time.

Otley gave their survival hopes a shot in the arm with a 11-5 win at basement side Kendal, and Hull Ionians did likewise thanks to a 16-11 away win at Leicester Lions. There were also

wins for Bromsgrove and Sheffield Tigers.
