Your News Pershore 10 - Banbury 42

Pershores troubled season continued when they lost to an average Banbury team on Saturday. With injuries, and unavailabilities , compounding to make Pershores very limited resources even worse, it was of no surprise that they struggled. For the first quarter Pershore enjoyed plenty of possession, and territorially spent plenty of time in Banburys half, but it was the visitors that took the lead. From the first time they spread the ball wde, the pace, and quick hands were too much for Pershore defence, and their winger touched down, who converted his own try. Two further touchdowns quickly followed, but just before half time Matt Syphus made a lovely break, supported by Rich Temeopu who crashed over. Marcus Whyte converted. For the first 15 minutes of the second half, Pershore had all of the possession, and spent the majority of the time in Banburys 22, however, a lack of a cutting edge, and wrong decisions being made, and a resolute Banbury defence, kept Pershore at bay. This in turn inspired Banbury to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, and regular touchdowns took their tally to 42 points. On the stroke of full time Pershore were rewarded for their efforts when Matt Harwood touched down in the corner after a fine sweeping move, involving a number of players. On the positive side Pershores scrum was dominant throughout, and Ben Humphries, and Martin Hope worked tiredlessly all afternoon.
